Mail Pile

Moving the Mail

Moved all my mail accounts back to my previous ISP (Internet Service Provider) It’s a rather complex process of re-directing I.P. address and many other laborious processes. Re-assigning passwords. etc.

Not getting into the process details. But I did spend most of a day (not at 100% effort) to get it all changed and in working order.

I have many dozens of email addresses and they all filter down into 4 major ”accounts” where they are collected and where I go to retrieve and send mail.

My newest I.S.P. (which I just left) was primarily handling my email functions. I also had (past tense) one small test website on their servers.

They are implementing a dual credential log-in process where they send a code to my email account. Problem was… they were hosting that email account and were unable to send the passcode, or I was simply not able to receive it. I was totally locked out of my account access.

That kind of stupidity in email account management is something that raises a VERY red flag with me. I decided to take everything out and move to another I.S.P. My previous one.

The old I.S.P. serves all my websites and all my email “aliases”. Only the true email accounts (file server) was on the new I.S.P.

I was not highly impressed with the “Big Name” I.S.P.  Constant pressure to “upgrade” and spend more for their automatic features I don’t really need.

Not going to bash them. Some people need their kind of over management. I never felt comfortable going in to tweak things on their system. Most features were buried layers deep in a labyrinth of tunnels. Ha!

They want users to click a check-box and a full WordPress site installs to I.S.P. specification (and control) I want a more knowledgable user I.S.P.  I moved back to the (for me) comfortable and typical C-Panel I.S.P.

Let me do things the way I want. I am happy again (at least for a while. Ha!)
